Our commitment

Best Western Plus City Hotel has joined the Stay For the Planet program, a data hub that helps hotels track their environmental performance and manage their sustainability initiatives through the structured collection of quantitative and qualitative data in the following areas: Energy, Water, Waste, Procurement, Behavior, and People.

Through constant monitoring of our consumption, we aim to conserve resources; we rigorously practice recycling together with our guests, whom we ask to contribute by using the designated bins located in common areas, and we raise awareness about the waste of resources such as food, water, and energy.

We have adopted the Green Key criteria established by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and received the corresponding certification in 2025.

To conserve water, we have installed flow restrictors on all our faucets. We promote sustainable practices by asking our guests to return only the towels they wish to have replaced, thereby reducing the environmental impact of linen use.

We purchase 100% renewable energy and implement energy-efficiency and smart-home solutions to ensure lower energy consumption. Some of the measures we have already implemented include: the use of thermostatic valves for hot water production, the installation of LED lighting systems to improve energy efficiency, the automatic shutoff of power to guest rooms when guests are absent, and the optimization of cascading energy sources during the production cycle.

We monitor waste generation and take steps to reduce the amount of waste produced, while also promoting the reduction of plastic and non-recyclable materials by seeking out suppliers with a lower environmental impact. Designated recycling bins are located in various common areas of the facility to encourage guests to sort their waste properly.

We have a plastic reduction policy in place under which we limit the use of disposable materials to reduce single-use packaging, work with our suppliers to select materials with a lower environmental impact, prioritize products made from recycled plastic, choose reusable packaging, and prefer the use of dispensers for hygiene products. We encourage our guests to use only the courtesy set they need to minimize waste.

We collaborate with local and cultural institutions, as well as arts and culture organizations, to promote the local culture. Some of these institutions and associations include: the Genoa Aquarium, the Convention Bureau, the Hoteliers’ Association, and others. In addition, we work with vocational schools to help young people enter the hospitality industry.

We manage our purchasing practices responsibly to ensure sustainable management of our food and beverage services. We support the local community by featuring and enhancing our breakfast menu with local and farm-to-table products. To help raise awareness about food waste, we encourage our guests to choose only what they truly wish to eat, so as to avoid leaving uneaten food on their plates.

Due to the building’s architectural layout and the surrounding environment, we have been unable to make further accommodations to better meet the needs of people with mobility impairments.
